Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said the allegations leveled by former president Asif Ali Zardari against him were wrong and baseless.

He expressed these views while talking to journalists outside Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.

Mashhood said that his past and present were free from corruption. He said that the former president, before leveling allegation against him, should had asked his interior Minister Rehman Malik who constituted JIT for investigation which, after investigation, had declared the allegations wrong and controversial video clip as fake.

He said that later, the opponents appealed in the High Court and the court had also declared him innocent by rejecting the appeal after hearing the case. He said that the High Court had also declared video clip as concocted.

The minister said that he has already shared facts of the case with the people through media in the light of the record of High Court and FIA in 2014.

He said that the statement of Zardari has mentally disturbed him as he has always done the politics based on principles.

Mashhood said that political victimisation in the present situation through which the country is passing is condemnable.

“Pakistan cannot afford political confrontation of 90s,” he added.

He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership is making efforts to purge the country of corruption, terrorism and lawlessness.
