Gwadar Port Chairman Dostain Jamaldini has said that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor is not the name of only road infrastructure or railways system but a mega project.
Speaking in Radio Pakistan’s programme, he said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor would not only benefit Balochistan but it would benefit all other three provinces of the country and other countries of the region as well.
Jamaldini said it would bring more prosperity in Balochistan. The government was giving top priority to the development of Balochistan and this project was one of them, it added.
“Gwadar port is functional at the time. After completion of the CPEC, Pakistan will have an access to Central Asian countries and Europe as well,” he added.
Economist Dr Shahid Hassan Siddiqui said the EPEC would definitely reduce unemployment in the country. “Functioning of Gwadar port will bring an economic revolution. Business activities will boost-up because of the economic zones in the country under CPEC.”
Analyst Dr Manzoor Khan Afridi said the CPEC was very important project in the history of Pakistan. It would not only benefit Pakistan but other countries of the region as well. Three routes have been designed in the CPEC, he added.
“If we see the trade statistics, they have been raised significantly which will ultimately benefit the economy,” he added.
Dr Afridi said it was expected that after completion of this project the trade volume would increase. Due to this, Gwadar project would become more important seaport in the region as it would have 1/3 of the trade activities of the region, he expected.
“Both China and Pakistan are committed to the project of CPEC to its maximum height. Many countries like Afghanistan, Russia and Kazakhstan are also taking interest to invest in this project for their mutual interests,” he added.
He said due to this project and strategic geographical position, Pakistan was emerging as hub of trade in the world. Russia is interested in this project because it would provide access to warm waters, he added.
