Café Aylanto, Xiwang fined over open drains, rotten veggies in kitchens

The Punjab Food Authority on Saturday carried out multiple raids on eateries and food stalls in the city and imposed heavy fine on them for not maintaining proper hygienic standards.

Among the eateries fined were the posh Cafe Aylanto on MM Alam Road, Gulberg which was penalized for ignoring open drains, dirty washing area and dirty tables on its premises. Similarly Xiwang, also on MM Alam Road, was fined with last warning of sealing due to open drains, spoiled vegetables, dirty washing area, fungal growth in freezers and for using uncertified products.

A PFA team led by Director Operations Ayesha Mumtaz raided Pizza Pizzas in Islampura, Sandha Road and fined the eatery over improper storage of food in freezer, poor personal hygiene and dirty washing area.

A PFA team sealed Hafiz Dahi Bhalay and Juice Corner in Gulberg’s Firdous Market due to unhygienic conditions, uncovered food and dirty freezers.

PFA Director Ayesha Mumtaz had on Friday sealed Ambassador Hotel on Davis Road after a raid revealed presence of rats in chillers and their feces on freshly prepared bakery products. Other irregularities found in Ambassador’s kitchen were putrefied minced meat in freezer, open drains, broken floor, expired products, rusted racks and stacking in chillers, water dripping in chillers and extremely dirty washing area.
