The US State Department, through a letter, informed the court that Siegel will not record his statement due to his health issues and has sought one month time from the court.

The letter was presented in the ATC by officials of the Foreign Ministry.

It may be noted that US author Mark Siegel had refused to come to Pakistan to record his statement in the murder case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto because of security concerns. However, he was willing to record his statement via video link.

Siegel was scheduled to record his statement today via video link in the court. A total of 49 witnesses have recorded their statements in the case so far.
