Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev Wednesday praised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his role in Pakistan’s gradual development.
During their meeting in Astana, President Nazarbayev talked about the ties between the countries of the region, saying they were “always closely linked by trade and culture.”
He praised PM Nawaz, saying:”Amid challenging conditions you initiated successful economic and political reforms in the country and carried out active foreign policy, thus, raising Pakistan’s prestige. Historically, countries of the region where Kazakhstan and Pakistan are situated were always closely linked by trade and culture.”
President Nursultan Nazarbayev said “In light of new realities, it is time to start a new page in the bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.”
“Mr. Prime Minister, I am sure that your visit is a good fresh impetus to revitalize our relations which we laid in 1992. I remember that meeting. Kazakhstan will never forget that Pakistan is one of the first countries which supported our independence,” said Nazarbayev.
He expressed the confidence that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Kazakhstan will contribute to further development of relations between the two countries.
“You’ve already visited our former capital Almaty,” he said. “Since then, we have built a new capital, the pride of all Kazakhstanis. This city is the symbol of our independence and success achieved throughout the years of sovereignty.”
Prime Minister Sharif, in turn, thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for invitation and said he admires his leadership skills.
