PPP, JUI-F forge alliance in Sindh for LB polls

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam- Fazal (JUI-F) have agreed in principle to forge an alliance in Sindh for the coming local bodies’ polls.

A statement issued on Tuesday said that it was agreed following negotiations between the leaders of the PPP and JUI-F at the Chief Minister House. The PPP leaders included Dr Qayyum Soomro, provincial minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Maula Bux Chandio, Najmi Alam, Rashid Rabbani, Waqar Medhi.

The JUI-F was represented by Qari Usman, Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Maulana Abdul Qayyum, Aslam Ghouri, Maulana Taj Muhammad and Hafiz Abdul Hai. It was decided that divisional and district level committees would be formed comprising representatives of both the parties.

These committees would set their priorities for the alliance at union committee and union council level polls. For alliance at local level with other parties, the recommendations would be presented to the central committee so that provincial level committee would accord formal approval of this.

The next meeting of the provincial committee would be convened on August 30, it was further stated.
