The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday summoned additional secretary of population department in contempt of court case.
Secretary population department, director general, provincial director and Sukkur district officer are facing charges of court's contempt for not compiling with the court's directions. Earlier, the SHC had directed them to form a committee to review employees' regularization issue in the department.
Akhtar Ali and other contract employees filed a petition seeking the court's direction to the respondents to regularise them. The court on 14th September 2014 had directed population department to form a committee and review this issue.
Despite the court's order, the population department did not form a committee which comes within contempt of court's ambit. On Tuesday's hearing, the court summoned the additional secretary of population department to file his comments on 27th August.
