Factories producing counterfeit food items sealed:

Meanwhile, the Faisalabad District Administration on Tuesday continued its crackdown against factories playing with the lives of common people by producing fake food and drink items for the local market.

After receiving complaints, Faisalabad Assistant Commissioner Shahrukh Niazi conducted raids on Tuesday and sealed a sweets and confectionery factory in Sadhupura on the charges of producing fake candies for children using hazardous chemicals.

However, when AC Niazi and his team raided a factory being run in a house in a residential neighbourhood, they were attacked by the workers.

When the team tried to arrest five individuals from the illegal soft-drink factory, they were assaulted by workers and residents of the area, creating a situation whereby the factory owners playing with the lives of people managed to escape.

In order to deal with the situation, Niazi summoned reinforcements. The assistant commissioner was able to arrest just one employee while all others managed to escape.

Sources add that the illegal factories had been operating in the area for a long time and after complaints were raised the district administration took notice and began their operation.
