Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan on Monday refused to accept the resignation of Riaz Kiyani, member Election Commission from Punjab.

According to Online sources, during the consultative meeting between the CEC and other four members, Justice (r) Riaz Kiyani presented his resignation saying that he couldn’t carry out the job any more due to scathing criticism by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

The news agency said that the CEC told Kiyani that as the LG polls of the province were nearing he could not accept his resignation, and asked him to continue his responsibilities.

“We have to perform our duties with honesty despite the allegations levelled by political parties on us,” the CEC reportedly told the EC member from Punjab.
