Thwarting terror attempts in four main cities of the country; Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar, police and the law-enforcing agencies on Monday arrested several terrorists.
In a joint operation by the police, Rangers and intelligences agencies in Sihala, 22 alleged terrorists, including 13 Afghans, were arrested while weapons, binoculars and a large cache of bullets were seized.
In Lahore, a suspected terrorist was arrested from Chungi Dugaij Underpass, Ring Road. Explosive material was reportedly found in the man’s possession. Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and Elite Force cars arrived immediately upon receiving the information about the explosives. The suspect was shifted to an undisclosed place for interrogation.
In the meanwhile in Karachi, Rangers and police found 10,000 bullets during an operation called following a tip on an abandoned car in Nazimabad precincts. The police cordoned off the area and blocked all entry and exit points of the locality before the BDS approached the car and discovered the bullets. The car was handed over in the custody of the police who say the registration details of the car were being obtained.
Separately in Peshawar, a suspected terrorist, Abdul Waheed alias Abubakar, was arrested from Haji Camp by Special Police Unit. A remote controlled bomb fixed in a water cooler was also found in the man’s possession. The BDS neutralised the bomb with water charge.
The arrested suspect is reported to be a member of an international terrorist organisation. He was also wanted to the law-enforcing agencies in six terror attacks martyring 42 officials in FATA and target-killing and kidnapping for ransom cases of a retired director of Intelligence Bureau (IB), deputy director, inspector and a retired DSP.
Sources told that the suspect belongs to Orakzai Agency and has been shifted to an unidentified place for further investigation.
