CM orders relief activities in flood-hit areas

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to continue relief activities in the flood-hit areas and provide all necessary facilities in relief camps set up by the Punjab government.

He issued these directions during a video-conference with members of Cabinet Committee on Flood present in various districts, divisional headquarters and Civil Secretariat on Saturday. The meeting reviewed in detail relief activities, protective arrangements and present flood situation.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz said that the government is conducting a survey to assess the losses in flood affected areas. He said that survey of losses should be carried out on the pattern of previous year. He said that satellite image before the arrival and after receding of water in flood-hit areas will testify the transparency of survey.

He said that digital image of losses to crops and houses in flood affected areas should be benefited from to measure the damage.

He said the survey of losses should be completed at the earliest so that no deserving person should be deprived of his right.

The chief minister said all precautionary measures should be completed in view of water situation in River Sutlej. He directed that safe evacuation of people residing in villages of Kasur alongside river bank should be ensured and pre-warning system should be fully benefitted.
