Reacting to critics’ statements that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) “is finished” the party’s young leader said that the PPP “will not be finished” because he had now taken over the reins of the party.

“When Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto died, people said the PPP was over; when Benazir Bhutto died everyone thought the PPP was finished but I want to tell such people that PPP will not be finished since Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has taken charge of it,” Bilawal said while addressing a gathering of members of minority communities  at Bilawal House in Karachi on occasion of Minorities Day.

Bilawal said the PPP opposes those who divide the nation along religion. “Any citizen, regardless of caste or religion, is a Pakistani before anything else,” he said, it was Quaid-e-Azam’s vision for Pakistan that it should be a country where everyone could practice their religion freely. He said his grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had laid the foundation of PPP on the same basis.
