Mohtasib forms committee to probe EOBI complaints

Taking cognizance of the news reports in the print media regarding the complaints against the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), Federal Ombudsman M Salman Faruqui has constituted a committee to look into the matters and submit its report.
In pursuance of the powers conferred in Article 18 & 19 of PO of 1983, the federal ombudsman announced the committee headed by former Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) chairman Asif Hayat and a former secretary.
According to the notification, Senior Advisor and former Controller General of Accounts Farah Ayub Tarin would be the secretary of the committee.
The members include former finance secretary Abdul Khaliq, , former Labour and Manpower secretary Nayyer Hussain, former Minorities Affairs secretary Jaweed Akhtar, former controller general of accounts Asif Usman, EOBI Chairman Mohammad Saleh Farooqui, Senior Actuary Shujaat Siddiqui, Employees Representative of Pakistan Institute of Labour and Economic Research (PILER) Karamat Ali, economic consultant Dr Sabur Ghayoor and EOBI Director Operations Syed Iqbal Haider Zaidi.
The committee will held its meetings and look into the complaints against the EOBI and submit its report and findings to Wafaqi Mohtasib.
