Five killed, three injured in fresh violence

As many as five people were killed and three others injured in different violence incidents in the metropolis on Thursday.

A man, Shahid, 45, son of Abdul Wali, was gunned down by unknown armed men in Sector 11/F New Karachi. The body was shifted to AbbasiShaheedHospital for an autopsy.

The bodies of Shahid, 30, son of Atwar Khan, and his wife Bilqees, 25, daughter of Habibullah, were recovered from a house near Akhter Shahid Kanta in Janjal Goth. According to rescue sources and police they were axed to death. They said the deceased were residents of Hassan Goth in Bin Qasim, National Highway, and they had married about one month ago. Both the bodies were shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities.

A man, Shani, 25, son of Ibrahim, was killed by unknown armed men near Ghee Factory, 100 Quarters in Koarangi-3. The body was shifted to JinnahPostgraduateMedicalCenter for an autopsy. In another incident, a man, Amir, 34, son of Yamin, was gunned down by unknown gunmen in Cantt Bazaar, Drug Road. The body was shifted to JPMC a postmortem.

A boy, Noor Muhammad, 14, son of Noor Habib, was shot at and injured by dacoit when he offered resistance to them during a robbery bid in Mian Wali Colony in Manghopir area. He was rushed to ASH for treatment.

A youth, Shah Nawaz, 22, son of Abdur Razzaq, was injured by unknown gunmen in Phool Chowk area of Joona Market. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment. In another incident, a man, Mumtaz Ali, 45, son of Jaffer Ali, was accidentally injured when his pistol went off. He was rushed to JinnahPostgraduateMedicalCenter for treatment.

BID FOILED TO SMUGGLE 12KG GOLD, 4 ARRESTED

The officials foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of gold worth millions of rupees abroad and arrested four culprits on Thursday.

Sources said that the custom officials during search of baggage of four persons leaving abroad at Jinnah International Airport Karachi recovered 12 kilogram of pure gold worth millions of rupees in international market hidden in secret chambers of the bags. The Airport Security Force (ASF) took the recovered gold into custody and arrested all the four culprits.
