- JUI-F chief says will bring another motion in today’s session but his stance on PTI resignations remains intact
- NA speaker telephones Altaf Hussain, requests him to withdraw party’s motion
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman late on Wednesday conditionally agreed to withdraw his party’s motion against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, as the National Assembly speaker made an independent effort to woo the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to withdraw a similar motion.
According to details, the JUI-F has decided to bring a new resolution on Thursday (today) to withdraw the motion seeking deseating of PTI lawmakers.
Talking to reporters after meeting a government delegation led by Information Minister Pervez Rashid, Fazl said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had repeatedly urged him to withdraw the motion. He said that his stance over PTI resignations is intact and he will only withdraw the motion seeking de-seating of PTI lawmakers.
Earlier in the day, Fazl had remained adamant in the NA that his party would not withdraw its motion despite the PM asking JUI-F and MQM to withdraw their motions in larger national interest.
Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday requested MQM chief Altaf Hussain to withdraw his party’s motion.
Sadiq spoke to Altaf on the telephone for about 10 minutes, after which the MQM chief assured the NA speaker that he would discuss his request with party members.
Reacting to the news, PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that Altaf Hussain is “the biggest traitor and terrorist of Pakistan” and he and his party would not return to parliament if it were up to Altaf Hussain to decide their fate.
Imran Khan said if PTI was deseated, they would return to the assembly with a larger mandate than before and no one could stop them from making a ‘Naya Pakistan’.
“I will continue my battle for free and fair elections in the future and will continue to press for a revamped Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP),” said Khan.
Perhaps deal has been concluded with PMLn
as per my opinion all the political parties should show maturity and work together for larger interest of the people. We had already done alot in the past, now its time to look forward and don't try to play in anyone's hands.
