238 posts in FIA lying vacant, Senate told

State Minister for Interior and Narcotic Control Balighur Rehman on Wednesday informed the Senate that in total 776 persons had been appointed in FIA during last five years and 238 posts of various cadres were lying vacant.

Replying to queries during Question Hour, the minister said process has been started to fill these vacant posts and an advertisement for 61 vacant posts of inspector had been published while advertisement for the posts of assistant directors would be published next week.

To a supplementary question, he said, new posts would be filled by observing the provincial quota as the stated recruitment was of the past.

To another question, the minister said there was zero tolerance for corruption and 17 criminal cases were registered against 39 police officers and officials of ICT Police found involved in corruption during the last five years.

He said the smart card was optional for all the citizens and NADRA charges Rs 1,500 from those customers who opt to receive highly secure state-of the-art smart cards on fast track basis.

He said several countries have outsourced to NADRA owing to its best performance.

To a question, the minister said currently 535 posts (BPS-1 to BPS-19) were lying vacant in the department of immigration and passports and its machine readable passport project. Arrangements for recruitment against vacant posts were under active consideration.

To a supplementary question, the minister said some areas of Rawalpindi adjacent to the capital were also included in the safe city project. Moreover, thousands cameras were being installed at various points under the project.
