The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to respondents on a petition challenging the court verdict, which had declared null and void the promotion of several bureaucrats from BB-21 to Bs-22.

On July 28, an IHC bench had declared promotions of over 50 bureaucrats null and void, directing the Establishment Division to work out a new formula and reinitiate the process with 30 days.

When the IHC judge Justice Amir Farooq took up the petition filed by the federation, Deputy Attorney General Afnan Karim Kundi told the court that the IHC’s order regarding doing away with promotions should be dismissed until a complete verdict was issued by the court.

The judge issued notices to respondents and adjourned the hearing till August 7.
