  • Rallies, seminars held to increase awareness regarding menace of dengue

Punjab Education Foundation, TEVTA, University of Punjab and other educational institutes observed Anit-Dengue Day on Sunday. Talks, walks and seminars were held to literate people about the menace and flyers and anti-dengue literature was distributed among the masses.

Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) on Sunday observed the Anti-Dengue Day across all offices in the province. All PEF offices in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi remained opened while the presence of staff was also ensured. On the occasion, different banners were displayed at offices and informative literature was distributed among the staff.

PEF Managing Director (MD) Dr Aneela Salman took a round of the head office building and inspected the general conditions of cleanliness.

In their messages on Anti-Dengue Day, PEF Chairman Engineer Qamarul Islam Raja and MD Dr Aneela Salman said that the foundation has directed its partner school to abide by the instructions of the Punjab government and motivate their students and teachers to act as ‘socially responsible’ citizens and help eradicate this deadly virus in their areas. This day is celebrated with the commitment to eradicate dengue and provide clean environment to students’ community to study and grow as healthy and confident youth.

Meanwhile, the district coordination meeting of school heads attached with the Foundation Assisted School (FAS) program will be held today at a local hotel in Rawalpindi.

The PEF chairman will preside over while Regional Director Syed Naveed Abbas and other officials will also attend this meeting.

TEVTA INSTITUTES FREE OF DENGUE

Meanwhile, TEVTA Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Shaikh has said all appropriate steps have been taken for the eradication of dengue menace at all TEVTA Institutes across the province of the Punjab.

He was addressing the TEVTA officers on Sunday at TEVTA Secretariat on the occasion of Dengue Day celebration.

Surveys were conducted scientifically to assess the needful action to be taken and accordingly, a plan was designed to educate the students and staff of all TEVTA Institutes for eradication of dengue.

Shaikh said that the TEVTA management has monitored and ensured the efforts, made by all field formations, for taking measures of cleanliness and mosquito eradication as per SOP of the government regarding anti-dengue campaign and necessary arrangements for eradication of dengue.  We have also ensured that all necessary steps have been taken for keeping the grounds, buildings floors and roofs water-free where water may be accumulated by rain fall, he added.

PU OBSERVES ANTI-DENGUE DAY

As per the direction of the Punjab government, the Punjab University administration on Sunday observed Anti-Dengue Day and organised various activities against spread of dengue fever.

PU Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, Registrar Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Hall Council Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Chief Medical Officer Dr Nauman Ahmed and other administrative officer visited various places and monitored anti-dengue activities.

PU anti-dengue teams carried out the insecticide spray in various parts of the university and posters/leaflets were also distributed amongst university population to create awareness against dengue mosquito.
