The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday approved the protective bail of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Abdur Rauf Siddiqui in 16 cases registered against him for listening and arranging a hate speech of his party leader Altaf Hussain.
Former provincial minister, Siddiqui’s counsel requested the court that his client is on the bail in seven other same cases. He requested the court to approve the bail plea of his client in 16 other cases.
After hearing the arguments, the division bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar approved Siddiqui’s bail pleas in 16 cases against the surety bond of Rs 10,000 in each case for 10 days.
Siddiqui had been nominated in several cases pertaining to being a part of MQM chief Altaf Hussian’s controversial speech. Over 100 cases have already been registered against Altaf Hussain under the clauses of the Pakistan Penal Code and Sections 6 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 for making negative remarks against security establishment in his speech.
