Entire katcha (riverine) area in the limits of Ketty Mumtaz police station near Naundero has been submerged into flood water of Indus River.
Flood water has entered Burira, Mitho Khuhro, Sajan Ji Wandh, Dodo Shaikh and Ismail Khuhro villages, however, many villagers are reluctant to shift to safer places due to personal and community enmities. Villagers of Burira and Mitho Khuhro villages are not willing to leave their respective ancestral areas due to ongoing bloody dispute between Bhutto & Khuhro communities. However, villagers have shifted to safer places from Dodo Shaikh.
Although the government has established relief camps in schools, nobody is ready to stay there as no medical camp has been established there nor the boats have been provided to them. The valuables of villagers of Dodo Shaikh were washed away in the flood water during night.
Mukhtiarkar Ratodero visited Burira village and persuaded the residents to shift to the camps but they refused. They asked Mukhtiarkar Niaza Siyal to provide tents and other material including food items but the same has not yet been supplied to them.
The villagers Abdul Rahim Bhutto, Shoukat Machi, Allah Ditto Jinjhan, Siddique Machi, Harji Koolhi and others told PPI that water between 6 to 7 lac cusecs was flowing in the Indus and that was why their villages had been taken over by it otherwise they usually remained safe as the flood water had already hit the protective Nusrat Loop Bund (dyke) near Phulpota village and usually it remained away from it when water quantity was low.
The road leading to Burira and Mitho Khuhro villages was fully damaged during 2010 super flood which have not yet been constructed for which the villagers have demanded to build the same immediately after floods. They further demanded that boats be provided to both the villages to shift women folk and children from the inundated villages. It must be mentioned here that Mitho Khuhro is the ancestral village of grandmother of Sindh Irrigation & Information Minister Nisar Khuhro.
