Killer arrested from MQM MNA’s restaurant presented before court

The Pakistan Rangers on Saturday produced a suspect Yameen alias AD, arrested from a restaurant of an MNA in Clifton, before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and informed it about his 90-day preventive detention for questioning.

The personnel of Sindh Rangers along with their counsel produced the suspect before the court amid tight security. According to the Rangers, the suspect was involved in killing of as many as 10 people.

The suspect was arrested by Rangers from a restaurant “Biryani of the seas” which is reportedly owned by a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA.

One Hasan Raza was also detained from the restaurant but he was released later. Following a raid, the restaurant was sealed by the paramilitary force. According to a press release issued by the Rangers on Friday, the suspect was involved in targeted killing of as many as 10 people including four people who were killed at GoodLuckGarden in 2014.

The court allowed the paramilitary force to detain the suspect for 90 days for interrogation considering section 11EEEE (1) of the ATA. The paramilitary force has the authority to detain suspects for the period of three moths for questioning under section 11EEEE (1) of ATA. The production of the suspect with relevant documents was made in compliance with section 11EEEE (3) of ATA for the information and record of the court.

HEARING OF AMIR KHAN CASE ADJOURNED

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi Saturday adjourned the hearing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) leader Amir Khan’s case till August 25.

The accused appeared himself before the court and requested the judge to grant him exemption from appearing before the court as he wanted to go on Haj. The court directed him to submit a written application and adjourned the hearing till August 25.

Amir Khan was detained from Nine Zero on March 11 on the charges of extortion, target killing and providing shelter to terrorists and criminals. He is currently on bail after being in Rangers custody for three months.

While talking to media after the hearing, the MQM leader said that operation should be conducted against those who were indulging in criminal activities whereas a sense of insecurity was being spread among the Muhajir community as a result of such raids.
