Afghanistan has notified Pakistan about waiver of financial guarantee of 110 per cent custom duty as well as $100 per 25 ton charges on Pakistani transit goods to Central Asian states, while the Pak-Afghan Joint Economic Commission meeting will be held here on August 26-27.
This was conveyed to Pakistan during a meeting between Afghan Ambassador Janan Mosazai and Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday.
The Afghan envoy informed the minister that notification about waiver of financial guarantee of 110 per cent custom duty as well as $100 per 25 ton charges on Pakistani goods transiting through Afghanistan to Central Asian states had been issued. Dar welcomed issuance of the notification and said it would help enhance Pakistan’s trade with the Central Asian states.
It is important to mention that Pakistan has already withdrawn the similar financial charges on the Afghan transit goods from July 1, this year. Afghanistan was also bound to reciprocate the move to facilitate intra-regional trade. Both countries are part of Asian Development Bank supported CAREC programme
They finalized the date of the 10th Pak-Afghan Joint Economic Commission meeting on August 26-27 in Islamabad. The Afghanistan side would be led by Finance Minister Eklil Ahmad Hakimi while Ishaq Dar would head the Pakistan side.
