Regional passport office in Punjab is waiting for the directorate general of immigtation and Passports (islamabad) to order the destroying of 23,289 passports which are unclaimed, to avoid their misuse and any security lapses, according to reports.

Official statistics show the regional passport office in Lahore has gathered maximum number of unclaimed (4,680) passports from Gujranwala office, followed by 3,319 from Faisalabad, 2,542 from Garden Town Lahore, 2,464 from Sahiwal, 2,014 from Abbot Road, Lahore, 1,299 from Sialkot, 1,252 from Jaranwala, 1,244 from Sargodha, 1,133 from Kasur, 997 from Okara, 798 from Narowal, 478 from Bhalwal, 376 from Chiniot, 367 from Hafizabad, 163 from Marakiwal, Sialkot, 159 from Shahdara Lahore, 20 from Renala Khurd and four passports from Lahore High Court Bar, Lahore, according to sources.
