Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar assumed charge as Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi on Sunday.
After assuming the charge, Mahar arrived at the headquarters, reviewed the Eid security plan and discussed security issues with his officers.
Mahar has been appointed as the AIGP Karachi after his predecessor Ghullam Qadir Thebo was appointed as chairman anti-corruption on Friday.
Other appointments and transfers in the Sindh provincial administration include Manzoor Qadir being removed as DG Sindh Building Control Authority and Saqib Soomro being removed as the city administrator.
Sindh Secretary Corporation Shadar Shamoon has also been removed. Some 10 deputy commissioners including those from Dadu, Jamshooro, Shikarpur, Sanghar and Mir Pur Khas were also removed.
Hyderabad Administrator Khalid Sheikh has been removed from his post and has been appointed as WASA deputy manager. The removals from the Sindh bureaucracy come in the wake of PPP leaders’ meeting on Thursday and directing provincial ministers to launch a crackdown on corruption.
According to sources, the Sindh government is taking action against those individuals who are being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
