Fuming at the SSP Investigation South for failing to submit a report of the joint investigation team over alleged illegal detention of a citizen, the Sindh High Court issued notice to him to appear in court.
A division bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar observed that on February 26 a JIT was constituted to locate the whereabouts of the detainee with direction for the officials of the law enforcement agencies to submit its findings within 15 days; however, despite lapse of considerable time no such a report was placed on record.
The bench had taken up a petition filed by Sher Mohammad Baloch, who moved the court challenging the illegal detention of his son Faraz Baloch, an employee of ShaheedBenazirMedicalCollege, since February 18.
Meanwhile, the same bench directed the counsel for the Rangers to submit comments on several petitions against alleged illegal detention of the citizens by the law enforcers by July 30.
The petitioners, Mateenuddin Khan, Anwar Ali, Syed Muhammad Nazim, Farah Riaz and Shujauddin petitioned against the illegal detention of their relatives by the law enforcers, submitting that the police and paramilitary troops had picked up Ahsanuddin, Abdul Rehman, Syed Muhammad Asim, Riazul Haq, Ziauddin from different areas but till date their whereabouts were not disclosed.
The court was requested to order the law enforcers to trace out the whereabouts of the detainees and produce them in court.
