MUMBAI:
Mumbai chief of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ashish Shelar has advised Shiv Sena to change its perception about Pakistan and to consider the local problems while discussing national issues, according to a report on The Times of India website.
Shiv Sena chief Uddav Thackeray expressed doubts on the recently held meeting at Ufa between Pakistan and India’s leaders, terming the meeting ‘unfortunate’.
He stated that, “the neighbouring country needs to be taught a lesson in a manner it understands” as he felt that the conditions on the borders between the two countries had not changed at all.
BJP leader Ashish Shelar said, “Uddhav Thackeray should have first sought information on Modi’s meeting with Sharif. The meeting between the two prime ministers was of national importance. Since the trial of 26/11 Mumbai attacks is going on in a Pakistani court, Modi coaxed Pakistan into completing it faster. Several Indian fishermen are lodged in Pakistani jails. The meeting also focused on their release.”
He added, “Everybody has the right to speak about India-Pakistan relations and what is happening in Jammu and Kashmir. But what is needed is a change of perception so that you can see the changed conditions.”
Shelar further criticised Sena over recent flooding in the capital city of Maharashtra state, perceived to be caused by blocked drains.
