Centres have been set up in different government schools of Rawalpindi for the registration of new voters in connection with the local government (LB) polls scheduled to be held in September.

Powers of assistant registration officers have been delegated to head teachers and those in charge of these schools. These centres have been established in Government Boys High School Locoshed, Islamia Higher Secondary School No-1, Islamia High School No-4, Comprehensive High School, New Islamia High School, Carriage Factory and the Government High School Khyaban-e-Sir Syed.

A source said that election commission staffers have also been provided to these schools’ administrations to help get voters registered.

According to the source, the new voter was required to produce a photocopy of the national identity card, vote number of parents in the respective constituency and a verification report about the residence.  After completion of the process, the list of the newly registered voters will be provided to district election commission Rawalpindi for further homework. The source said that the voters’ registration process will continue till mid August.
