- Supermodel bursts out in court over ‘character assassination’ by linking her to various political personalities
A customs court in Rawalpindi has reserved its verdict regarding Ayyan Ali’s indictment in money laundering case and will announce it on July 13.
The super model was brought in the court in armored vehicle for the hearing where her lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa took the stance that custom authorities have not provided all the documents for indictment therefore the relevant proceedings should be adjourned.
The customs law officer argued that all the documents have been submitted whereas the suspect’s petition to halt the court proceedings has been dismissed.
The defense counsel stated that a negative propaganda was being carried out against his client for which the court should issue directions for its prevention.
Commenting on the arguments, the judge remarked that the propaganda was being done not by the journalists but by “some other party”.
For the first time, Ayyan Ali also burst out in the court and said that she was being subjected to character assassination through social media and was being linked to various political personalities. She said that people from whom millions were recovered have been set free.
The court reserved its decision in the indictment case till July 13 and also adjourned hearing of the case to register money laundering provisions against Ayyan till July 11.
Ayyan’s father was also present in the court but the model refused to meet him. Moreover, Ayyan’s lawyer has expressed hope that her client’s bail will be approved by Supreme Court (SC) before Eid.
