Arrested suspects confess to involvement in Dr Imran Farooq murder: report

Mohsin Ali and Moazzam Ali, the two prime accused in Dr Imran Farooq murder case, on Thursday confessed to their direct involvement in the killing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, Geo News has reported.

According to the channel, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe the murder of Dr Imran Farooq interrogated the accused during which Mohsin Ali admitted that he was present on the spot and attacked the MQM leader with a knife ‘on the eve Altaf Hussain’s birthday’.

According to the channel, Mohsin Ali has also revealed that he was an activist of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO) – the student wing of MQM formed on June 11, 1978. He told the JIT that Moazzam Ali was the one who arranged his and Kashif’s travel to UK, the channel reported, adding that Mohsin has also admitted that he used to work in Moazzam Ali’s company, Com-net.

According to the channel, key accused Moazzam Ali has also named five leaders of MQM for their alleged involvement in the murder case of Dr Imran Farooq. One of the names is of MQM Chairman Altaf Hussain, according to the report. Moazzam also also reportedly admitted arranging Mohsin and Kashif’s travel to UK for carrying out the hit.

According to the report, Khalid Shamim, another accused in the murder case, revealed that it was his responsibility to pick Kashif and Mohsin from the airport and shift them to a secure location.
