As many as 13 police officers of District East have been suspended from their services for patronizing different gambling and drug dens in the city, a senior police official revealed early on Friday.
According to Senior Superintendent-Police (SSP) East Pir Mohammad Shah, the dismissed officials were part of the city’s organised crime circle and belonged to the police’s intelligence department. He said the sub-inspectors (SI) and assistant sub-inspectors (ASI) level officials of Mubeena Town and Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town police stations were assigned on intelligence gathering duties of the area. Shah went on to say that the suspended officials were also involved in issuing notices prior to police raids on gambling and drug dens.
