In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak lashed out at the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) chief executive, by calling him incompetent, and further stating that he would burn the PESCO chief just as he had burned other during the heat.

Khattak was addressing the assembly after it passed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finance bill 2015 on Monday.  He said that the chief executive of the PESCO is so incompetent that he can’t get the share of KP from the national grid for the daily generation of power.

“I am receiving reports on a daily bases. We are getting 400 to 500 megawatt less than our own share in daily production,” he said and the reason for the deficiency he said was the incompetency of the PESCO chief who can’t ask for the share as he can’t make recovery the amount of power which he gets for KP.

“The PESCO management is not asking for our province’s share because it wants to give cover to its own incompetency while the whole province is burning in fire because of them.”  Khattak warned the PESCO chief of saying, “I am warning the PESCO Chief from the floor of the house if the our province’s share was not received in the next five days than with your and opposition support we would go and sit in the PESCO office to ask how can’t they get our daily share.”

Khattak said that the ministry for water and power has assured KP government that it would get 13.5 per cent share of the daily production but the officers sitting in Peshawar at the WAPDA house are not getting it. “I would burn the chief of PESCO the way he has burnt us in the heat,” he said threatening the PESCO chief.

Earlier, the CM highlighted the performance KP government and the silent features of the budget, which is concentrated on devolution of powers and funds to the village level. Khattak said, “If the local government system run successful then developmental works could be seen at each street and locality as 43,000 representatives would take part in the work and it would be seen.”

“The aim of the local government system was the people of village do their own work and it is a revolution.” Regarding the KP share in net hydel profit and its arrears Khattak said that federal government is agreed to it and a formality is left which is to process the money through the council of common interest. He said that they are sure that the federal government would provide the money but if in case the money was not released than the KP government have alternative for the budget.

He said that they are working on small hydro electric dams which would start generating 35 megawatt electricity by the next year after they get operational. The chief minister also touched the government efforts of moving towards good government and achieving transparency in their working, “Today no one can object to us or accuse us for corruption, tenders and jobs are given on merit.”

Regarding the funds distribution, he said the government tries to distribute equal funds to all the districts and the opposition also gets a share in developmental schemes. At the end of his speech, the CM announced two months honoraria for the assembly staff, finance department staff and planning and development department.
