The National Assembly resumed debate on the Budget for the next financial year on Monday.
Ghous Bux Mahar called for a reduction in the duration of load shedding and demanded that the duty on import of solar panels be removed to promote solar energy in the country.
Ali Gohar Khan Mahar demanded a special development package for the Ghotki district to overcome the shortage of educational, health and infrastructure facilities.
Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan demanded supply of gas to all district headquarters in Balochistan and conversion of tube wells to solar power.
Lal Chand was of the view that the new budget contains nothing significant for the common man. He criticised the withdrawal of the subsidy on electricity, and called for further increase in the salaries for government employees.
Shakeela Luqman said the present government has presented a balanced budget despite huge losses to the economy due to terrorism.
Sheikh Salahuddin believed that the budget would increase inflation. He demanded allocation of more resources to address problems in Karachi like terrorism, unemployment and water shortage.
Aliya Kamran called for more attention to the supply of uninterrupted and cheap energy and improvement in the law and order situation to attract investment.
Imran Zafar Leghari was of the view that the government has not been able to deliver on the promises it made to the masses during elections.
Kiran Haider termed the budget poor friendly and appreciated steps announced for the promotion of agriculture and industry.
Munaza Hassan criticised the five per cent tax increase on ghee, cooking oil, flavoured milk, yogurt and cheese and said this would increase food inflation.
Nasir Iqbal Bosal said the country’s economy could be strengthened by promoting agriculture and resolving problems being faced by farmers.
The National Assembly passed a resolution extending the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015 for a further period of 120 days with effect from June 25, 2015.
The resolution was moved by Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif. He pointed out that the original resolution was unanimously adopted by the House.
