Group involved in killings of KU professors identified

Investigation agencies on Sunday identified a group involved in the killing of two KarachiUniversity professors.

According to details, important revelations have been made in murder case of Professor Waheed-ur-Rehman and Professor Shakeel Auj as the forensic report has suggested that murder weapons used in both the cases are same.

After this disclosure, investigation from target killer Mansoor, detained in the murder of Professor Shakeel Auj, has been initiated. The suspect has revealed in his initial statement that he got the orders of Shakeel Auj’s murder from abroad. Five men also accompanied him in the killing and knew Faheem Jabal Poori and Ehtasham-ud-din, the accused said.

Investigation authorities, after the confession of Mansoor, have launched a series of raids to arrest his accomplices. Professor Shakeel Auj was killed in September 2014 in Gulshan Iqbal area whereas Professor Waheed-ur-Rehman was murdered last month in Federal-B area.

According to Dr Auj’s son, Hassan Auj, Dr Waheed was his father’s student and close confidante. He said Dr Rehman was very close to the family and was also assisting in the investigation of his father’s murder.

FATHER, SON SHOT DEAD OVER DOMESTIC DISPUTES

Two persons including father and son were killed and a woman injured in firing over domestic disputes on Sunday.

Rescue sources said the incident took place in Jamali Goth area, near Super Highway of Karachi, where an accused over domestic issues with the family opened straight fire.

Two including father and son died in the firing while a woman sustained critical wounds. The bodies and the injured were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities while the murderer managed to escape from the scene after committing the crime. The police after registering a case against the culprit started efforts for his arrest.
