PSDP takes care of some expenses

The federal government on Friday announced the budget for fiscal year 2015-2016. Some prominent allocations made under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2015-16 are as follows:

Water power is Rs 287b strong

The federal government has allocated Rs 287,238 million for the ongoing and new projects of water and power division (power sector) in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2015-16.

According to the budgetary document, the government has earmarked an amount of Rs 10,000 million for land acquisition for Diamer Basha Dam project while Rs 6,000 million has been earmarked for the construction of Diamer Basha Dam project.

A sum of Rs 11,000 million has been allocated for Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power Project. Rs 10,984 million has been earmarked for Tarbela Fourth Extension hydro Power Project.

An allocation of Rs 500 million has been made for import of 100 MW power from Iran while Rs 200 million has been earmarked for interconnection of Chashma Nuclear power plant.

Rs 12b dropped on the dock

The government has allocated Rs 12,000 million for ports and shipping division in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2015-16.

According to the budgetary document released on Friday, the government has set aside Rs 5,223 million for six ongoing schemes while Rs 6,777 million earmarked for eight new sachems of the ports and shipping division.

Highest amount allocated for a project for the division is Rs 4700 million for Construction of Eastbay Expressway under China-Pak Economic Corridor at Gwadar.

Some Rs 3,000 million have been set aside for necessary facilities of fresh water treatment, water supply and distribution at Gwadar under CPEC while Rs 1500 million have been allocated for construction of Break Waters under CPEC.

Rs 1.5b go for lush green fields

The government has allocated Rs 1,500 million for the development of agriculture sector under its Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2015-16.

According to the PSDP released on Friday, the government has allocated Rs 1,401.061 million for the completion of 16 on-going projects and 89.939 million for seven new schemes in the agriculture sector.

Under the PSDP, Rs 428 million has been allocated for the research for agriculture development besides allocating Rs 300 million for promotion of olive cultivation on commercial sales in Pakistan.

To enhance per acre crop production and promote hybrid seed cultivation in the country, the government has allocated Rs 200 million for the project indigenization of hybrid seed production.

In PSDP 2015-16, the government has allocated Rs 100 million for national pesticides research monitoring system for providing quality fertilizers and pesticides to growers in the country.

To provide safe and nutrient filled vegetables for household, the government has allocated Rs 10 million for the project kitchen gardening a way to safe and nutrient filled vegetables under its PSDP 2015-16.

In PSDP 2015-16, Rs 70 million has been allocated for up gradation of arid zone research institute and establishment of new adaptive research.

To promote agri-sector in Balochistan, the government has allocated Rs 34 million for establishment of horticulture research institution in Khuzdar.

Rs 791m for a bulky produce

The government has allocated Rs 790.881 million for various ongoing schemes of industries and production division under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2015-16.

According to budgetary document released on Friday, no new scheme was introduced for the upcoming year and the amount has been allocated for 18 ongoing schemes of industries and production division.

Among the ongoing schemes, Rs 60 million have been allocated for development project of Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company whereas Rs 26.683 million have been allocated for establishment of 0.2 MDG intake and brine disposal system for desalination plants at Gaddani, Jiwani and Pasni.

The government has allocated Rs 25 million for establishment of Bostan Industrial Estate Bostan phase-I while for establishment of Castor Oil Solvent Extraction Plant at Uthal District Lasbela, an amount of Rs 5 million has been set aside.

Similarly, the government has earmarked Rs 17.53 million for establishment of CFC for silk cluster, Swat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Rs 12 million for establishment of Chromite Benefication Plant at Muslim Bagh.

An amount of Rs 86 million was earmarked for establishment of design institute, especially for energy sector plants by up-grading existing design centre at HMC Taxila.

The government allocated Rs 16.50 million for establishment of gems and jewellery training and processing center at Muzaffarabad while Rs 42.25 million for establishment of infrastructure in Quetta industrial and trading estate phase-II.

For Sialkot Business and Commerce Centre (SBCC), Sialkot, the government allocated Rs 241.27 million while for Hyderabad Engineering Support Centre (HESC) an amount of Rs 50 million has been allocated.

The government has set aside Rs 50 million for Peshawar Light Engineering Up-gradation Centre for SMEs in Balochistan (LEUC) while Rs 50 million has been allocated for water supply scheme for HITE phase-II Balochistan, district Lasbella.

Rs 341m to lubricate petroleum sector

The government has allocated Rs 348.926 million for new development schemes and completion of ongoing projects in the petroleum sector under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2015-2016.

According to the budgetary document released on Friday, Rs 280 million have been earmarked for new development schemes including acquisition of four drilling rigs with accessories for the geological survey of Pakistan and exploration and evaluation of metallic minerals in Bela and Uthal areas, district Lasbella, Balochistan.

For the completion of on-going schemes, the government has allocated Rs 68.926 million. These schemes include appraisal of newly-discovered coal resources of Badin Coal Field and its adjoining areas of Southern Sindh, exploration and evaluation of coal in Raghni area Tehsil Shahrig, Balochistan, and exploration of tertiary coal in central salt range, Punjab.
