Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Thursday said the country is capable of responding to all forms of aggression from India.
“We know how to respond befittingly to any aggression from India,” the army chief said, adding that there is no need to worry about anything that India says.
Talking to journalists after the joint session of parliament, the army chief said the law and order situation of the country would continue to improve. The statement comes a day after the army chief said Kashmir and Pakistan are inseparable.
On Wednesday, the army chief described the festering dispute over the Himalayan region as an ‘unfinished agenda’ of the 1947 partition in a strong rejoinder to a flurry of provocative statements emanating from India.
“While we wish peace and stability in the region, we want Kashmir’s just resolution in light of the UN resolutions and as per the aspirations of the Kashmiris to bring lasting peace in the region,” Gen Sharif said in a speech at the National Defence University in Islamabad.
The army chief’s statement follows a flurry of similar assertions that India is involved in stoking terrorism across Pakistan. In recent weeks, the military and civilian leadership have expressed serious concerns of India’s “nefarious designs”, with top government officials saying India is attempting to sabotage Pakistan’s historic $46 billion agreement with China.
The Pakistan Army last month asserted that Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is involved in terrorism across Pakistan.
The situation is diverting to the correct path which will be a long term understanding in the prevailing situation of the area and time.
I as a Pakistani would reinforce that the people of Pakistan are not worried about our esteemed neighbours in the East . For them there is only one message not to mess with Muslims of Pakistan . Our message to our Army Chief is that we are with him entirely but we all have to be careful of the snakes that are lurking within the country . Pakistan Zindabad
