Memon orders arrangements for rental desalination plant

Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed the authorities of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to start the arrangements for installation of desalination plant to convert the seawater into potable to overcome the water shortage in Karachi.

He issued the directives to MD KWSB in a meeting held on Wednesday with the Station Commander Brig Farrukh Naseem and Clifton Cantonment CEO Shahrukh Khatak at his office.

He briefed the station commander and CEO of CCB about the provincial government plan to install desalination plant to convert the seawater into potable and offered them that the government would fulfil their requirements through this plant if both organisations agreed to supply of the water from this plant.

Memon said the water shortage of the other city areas would also be overcomed with this arrangement. Brig Farrukh Naseem and CEO CCB agreed with the minister local government to overcome the water crisis from the city.

Memon also briefed them about the short-term and long-term planning of the provincial government to overcome the water crisis and assured them that the requirements of DHA and Clifton cantonment would be fulfilled with this plant.

KWSB MD Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi informed the station commander and CEO to CCB that the rate of the potable water from seawater through desalination plant would be less than the price the people of Defence and Clifton were being purchased. He said Rs 3000 tanker would be available in Rs 1500 and it will be pure and mineral water.
