LAHORE:
Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi on Monday announced that he is stepping aside from assuming the role of ICC presidency and suggested PCB to nominate a former cricketer for the role, authorities stated.
Sethi, who is currently heading the governing board and a 3-member executive committee of PCB, said that it is in the best interest of the game for PCB to nominate a former cricketer for the position of presidency in International Cricket Council.
“I have decided to step aside from ICC Presidency. I request PCB to nominate a great ex Test Cricketer for this position in spirit of game,” Sethi said on Twitter.
He further said that reviving internationl cricket in Pakistan is a great joy for the nation and it is the best time to honour a former cricketing great by nominating him as the next president of ICC, reportedly.
“After the success of #CricketComesHome and in the spirit of revival, it is time to honour a cricketing GREAT from Pak as next ICC Prez,” he added.
