Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday expressed serious concern over recent statements made by the Indian political leadership, and said that all possible measures would be taken to counter “anti-Pakistan” acts.

The prime minister said this during a visit to the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) headquarters on Saturday where he and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif were briefed by ISI Director General Rizwan Akhtar on the internal and external security situation of the country as well as ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

Prime Minister Sharif lauded the efforts and achievements of the ISI in countering terrorist activities, and paid rich tributes to the officers and men of the agency who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. “We are proud of our intelligence agency and they deserve due recognition and acknowledgement,” he said.

Sharif said that terrorism and extremism are the biggest challenges to a secure and prosperous Pakistan. He showed his concern over actions of foreign intelligence agencies in destabilising the country. He emphasised the need for a more proactive and coordinated role of intelligence agencies to defeat all threats.

Earlier, Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists.

“India will take proactive steps to prevent a 26/11 type attack,” Press Trust of India had quoted him saying. The statement was strongly criticised by the Pakistani leadership, which said that Parrikar’s remarks vindicated Pakistan’s stance that RAW was fomenting terrorism in the country.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Adviser to PM on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi accompanied Prime Minister Sharif.

  1. OOH! We the Indians have already started to shake in our pants!!! We know how capable is our enemy who refuses to fight us directly and had been defeated many times when they did try! Remember 1971?

remember the old saying?' Don't do to others that you you don't want others to do to you'?

  2. The first act of NAWAZ SHARIF should be to bring back the 500 million dollars he and his beloved brother stole from the treasury.
