Roads in Malir

Through the esteemed column of your newspaper, I want to draw the attention of concerned authorities towards road construction issues in our city.

I am currently a student of FAST NUCES, Karachi, a university situated on the National Highway. The only path to my university is through the roads of Malir which unfortunate are a sight of havoc and anarchy. Towards the end of the year 2013, the government of Sindh decided to build flyovers at Malir 15 and Malir Halt to manage the massive flow of traffic going through to and returning from the National Highway. But grievously as to date, about only 25 per cent of the work has been completed. The ongoing lethargic construction of these flyovers have resulted in only enough space on the sideways for one vehicle to pass by at a time.

Traffic stays jammed in this whole area for hours which results in us student reaching late to our university, often missing our decisive examinations. The delayed construction of these flyovers and roads of this high revenue yielding area is not only financially damaging the city and then ultimately the country but also it is endangering our education through the help of which we only aim to forge a better future for the country we dearly love.
