Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon has cautioned the power company K-Electric for load-shedding at pumping stations and said the load-shedding would worsen water crisis in the city.
In a statement on Wednesday, the provincial minister said the government of Sindh had paid Rs 4.410 billion to the KE for all operational connections of KWSB for the period from July 2014-April 2015, adding that there were no outstanding dues for current year.
Memon further said for arrears, the Sindh High Court had issued decision in favour of KWSB and added that any disconnection and load shedding on pumping stations by the KE would be contempt of court and liable for legal action.
He stated the government would take legal action against the power company as the load shedding disturbed the supply of water to millions of consumers and it may also disturb the law and order situation in city.
He said the loadshedding on pumping stations was an act of contempt of court and against the law and the government also reserved the right to take action against the K-Electric.
Meanwhile, the minister also warned the tankers’ mafia for overcharging the price of water and directed the authorities to take action against the mafia. He also appealed to the people to complain on phone numbers 02199203442-99245138-99245139-99245140 and 111-115-972 for overcharging.
