Govt to keep working for poor: Shahbaz

The government has taken a number of welfare measures to improve the living standard of deprived segments of the society and this process will continue in future as well, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while addressing a high level meeting at the Civil Secretariat through video link on Monday.

The meeting reviewed in detail wheat procurement campaign and proposed steps for enhancing the living standard of families living below poverty line.

“Serving the masses is the mission of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government and the mission will continue till the end of the tenure,” he said, adding that govt’s every step is moving towards welfare of the deprived segments of the society.

He said that billions of rupees are being spent for bringing the poor and downtrodden people into the national mainstream.

MEASURE TAKEN TO PROTECT FARMERS:

He said that the government has taken concrete measures for protecting interests of the farmers. He said that 4 million tonnes wheat procurement target has been fixed and wheat is being procured from small farmers on priority basis.

“All possible facilities are being provided to the farmers at procurement centres,” he said, adding that he is personally monitoring the campaign. He warned that no middleman will be allowed to exploit the farmers.
