Govt fully determined to curb terrorism: president

President Mamnoon Hussain says the government is fully determined to eradicate terrorism from the country.

Addressing the convocation of JinnahUniversity for Women in Karachi on Saturday, he said Operation Zarb-e-Azb will continue till elimination of the last terrorist from the country.

The president said law and order situation had improved in Balochistan and Karachi as a result of effective measures taken by the government.

He said Karachi would be reverted to its original status of the city of lights, and in future, no one will dare to disturb the law and order in the city. He said the government was committed to continuing operation till arrest of the last criminal.

The president said that the era of unrest was over in Karachi and the city would see peace again. Mamnoon also said that killers of Dr Shakil Auj, Dr Waheed-u-Rehman and others will be arrested soon and no one will dare to disturb peace. “Karachi is a city of famous people and we shall make it the city of lights again,” he added

Mamnoon Hussain said work was under way on several mega projects to meet the shortage of energy in the country. More than 10,000 megawatts of electricity would be added to the national grid by 2018. He made it clear that China was investing in Pakistan, not giving loans. He said efforts were being made to remove misunderstandings about the route of Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

The president called for social boycott of corrupt persons in order to eliminate the menace of corruption from the country. He urged the students to work hard to play their due role in development of the country. He said instead of following the West blindly they had to protect their social values.
