Hours after the chief military spokesman lashed out at Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain for making “uncalled for and disgusting” references to the army in his address to party supporters on Thursday night, the politician known for his frequent U-turns tendered an unconditional apology over his statements criticising the army and demanding assistance from Indian intelligence agency RAW.

“My demand from RAW to assist MQM was satirical,” the MQM chief said in a statement issued from London. Altaf added that he has always respected Pakistan Army and would continue to do so. “If my statements have hurt the sentiments of the national security forces, I apologize,” he said, adding that he never meant to ask assistance from RAW.

Altaf said that it was natural for a person to feel dejected after being accused of treason time and again. “Pakistan is our country and we will live and die in Pakistan. “Muhajirs’ have no affiliation with any part of the world other than Pakistan,” he said.

  1. There are two ways to let people know you are an idiot. One is to keep quiet and let others think you are one! The other is to open your mouth and leave on doubt about it. The leader of MQM belongs to the latter as far as his remarks about the army are concerned.
