The Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU), which will not only monitor but also ensure timely implementation of key development projects, commenced on Thursday.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who executed the facility, was given a presentation by the PMDU team members at the PM House.

For the first time in Pakistan’s history, a special unit has been created in the PM’s office, comprising top professionals from the private sector.

Initially, the unit was tasked by the premier to support concerned ministries in removing any gridlocks in effective implementation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) related energy projects as well as in projects being under the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (PCEC).

Through the PMDU, PM Sharif will monitor performance of ministries on a weekly basis.

This will aim to improve inter-ministerial coordination, ensuring their timely response on matters pertaining to important public service delivery. The unit will work in close alliance with the concerned ministries.
