The Supreme Court (SC) has stayed the execution of two persons including Abdul Rehman and Moin ud Din, who were convicted for killing three persons, including two police officers.
Black warrants of Moin ud Din were issued but Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Nasir ul Mulk had stayed the implementation of the black warrants in his chamber and ordered that the case be fixed for hearing.
A three-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up the case for hearing Thursday.
The court was told that Abdul Rehman, who is in Mianwali jail at present, had killed two police officers in Khushab. They have now struck a reconciliation, therefore, implementation of the death penalty be stayed.
Ishtiaq Ahmad Raja counsel for the second accused Moin ud Din told the court that his client had barged into the home of a person and killed him. Court had already stayed the implementation of his black warrants. They have reached reconciliation and the matter has been referred to a larger bench.
The court stayed implementation of death penalty in respect of both the accused persons and adjourned the hearing of the case till May 1.
