An accountability court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday acquitted Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Rehman Malik in two references.
Judge Sohail Nasir conducted the hearing.
Rehman Malik told the court on Wednesday that legal requirements in the verdict issued against him in two different references earlier were not complete. Rehman Malik’s lawyer adopted the stance that the suspects other than Rehman Malik have been acquitted whereas the reference made against his client was malicious.
Judge Sohail Nasir, after hearing the case, declared the punishment of the PPP leader void.
Malik, speaking to media after the hearing, claimed that he was being pressurised into becoming an approver in the murder case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto through these references.
