Power shortfall surpasses 4600 megawatts

Electricity shortfall has surpassed 4600 megawatts in the country.

Sources said that shortfall has increased manifold for the reason that electricity demand has gone up enormously and power production has declined drastically.

Load shedding has reached highest notch in both rural and urban areas of Punjab, even in the districts where the process of harvesting wheat is in progress.

In the urban localities, load shedding is being observed 18 hours every day adding to the woes of the people.

Business community said that electricity was supplied to them for only 186 hours during the month of March. The reports from rural areas suggest that electricity supply remained 150 hours in the month of March.

He said that the visit of Chinese delegates from Qinghai province indicated that Chinese business community was focusing on Pakistan in general and Punjab in particular for strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations.
