A father of 10 children committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling material of his house on Wednesday.
The 45-year-old man was an employee of municipality since last 20 years but his services were not regularised despite hundreds of fresh appointments made during last seven years that dejected him, his widow Alima Khatoon told reporters.
She said her husband Qalander Bux Shaikh was working as sanitary worker since last two decades in Naundero municipality as daily wager and he made repeated requests to his officers to regularise him but they turned down his pleas.
She further said that they used to pass hunger-like life since long due to escalating price hike. She said he had a quarrel with her in the morning today during which he also beat her up and then he asked her to get out of home so she went to the house of neighbouring relatives, adding that she soon returned back and found him hanging in the room with a rope tightened around his neck.
The woman raised hue and cry due to which neighbours gathered and called police which took him down. His body was shifted to government hospital for fulfilment of legal formalities and then was handed over back to the heirs for burial. He left behind six little daughters and four minor sons. She appealed to PPP leaders for financial assistance.
