ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan lashed out at Prime Minister Sharif’s visit to Gilgit Baltistan where he announced a special package for the uplift of mountainous region.

Khan’s statement comes hours after Prime Minister Sharif paid a visit to Gilgit Baltistan and announced various development packages.

Reacting to the Prime Minister visit, Khan said that the  pre-poll rigging was absolutely unacceptable. “PML-N must learn essentials of democracy beginning with fair & free elections,” he said.

“I strongly condemn Nawaz Sharif’s continuing efforts at pre-poll rigging in Gilgit Baltistan by announcing development package for GB as an electoral gimmick,” he said.

This follows his earlier moves to appoint his federal minister as governor GB, a PMLN loyalist caretaker govt and election commissioner, he noted.

So far Nawaz Sharif has not been able to rise above cronyism and use of money to buy influence, he alleged.

It is noted here that the elections for Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly have been scheduled for May this year.
