The Jamat-e-Islami (JI) held a rally at Shahra-e-Pakistan on Sunday for demonstrating its muscles ahead of by-elections for NA-246 constituency of Karachi on April 23.
While addressing the rally, JI chief Sirajul Haq said today the people know Karachi with reference to the names of Ajmal Pahari and Saulat Mirza. He said there was terror and horror all around which was because the MQM chief introduced the culture of terrorism, extortion and kidnapping in the city instead of serving the poor masses. He urged Altaf Hussain to wake up from slumber by telling him, “It’s an age of 3G but not G-3”. He said Altaf’s respect lay in withdrawing his candidate as the Karachiites now wanted elections but not selection. The JI chief said the day of 23rd March was destined for eradication of terrorism and extortion. Siraj said that MQM’s thugs baton charged their works but all this tactics won’t bring anything good to the city.
Promising bright future for Karachi, he said the JI would introduce uniformed education system across and the country, and the son of a president and that of a peon’s would go to one school. He said they would provide subsidised food to the poor and during his regime every one would enjoy equal rights in the country. “Peaceful Karachi is the need of 18 crore people of city,” he added.
Siraj did not even spare Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and came hard on him. “Shah sahib, the time has changed. Will you tell me how many days you awake in a year?” shah questioned. He went on to say that target killers were also receiving salaries from the Sindh government.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have already tightened their belts to show their power in the polls of NA-246. However, the PTI has changed its gathering venue from Jinnah Ground to Shahra-e-Pakistan on April 19.
On the other hand, the MQM will show their muscles at Jinnah Ground ahead of the polls, for which they have completed all the preparations and organised a musical concert on daily basis in the ground. Earlier in February, Nabil Gobal left the NA-246 seat vacant, got his resignation from the seat and quit the MQM.
